PERFECT GOLF SWING

You might be wondering, "what is the perfect golf swing ?" Many experienced golfers and golf instructors argue that there is nothing like a perfect golf swing but that it involves a combination of good techniques that are applied consistently to ensure that a person delivers a great shot.

If you have ever watched a PGA golf tournament then you have had the privilege of seeing what a perfect golf swing should look and sound like. Golf originally started as a little game mainly for the upper class who had much too much time on their hands. As the great game of golf becomes more and more popular around the world, more people are seeking that "perfect golf swing". In the 1980's, golf's popularity soared and it became one of the most played mainstream sports in the US. Even then players were debating exactly what constituted the perfect golf swing. Enter Nick Faldo, a golfer many described as having a perfect mechanical swing. So in the 90's, people said Faldo had the perfect swing, even better than Nicklaus or Palmer.

Here are some rules to get your swing just right:

Perfect position

First, and foremost, when playing golf, one must locate the flag. The flag pinpoints the hole in which your golf ball must fall in. For starters, you can practice by distancing yourself from the flag, and moving farther bit by bit as you learn to get the golf ball closer to the hole. You must position yourself parallel to the flag, and with perfect timing and aim you can truly get that ball into the hole.

Grip

If one has a good grip on his or her golf club, the road to achieving the perfect swing is not far behind. A good grip has no specific rules or ways on how to do it. You will have to discover it on your own. Every golfer must learn the right way to hold a golf club, so that it doesn't fly away once you make your swing. When purchasing a golf club, you will notice that each golf club can either have a ladies' grip or a men's grip. It doesn't necessarily mean that a girl can only use a girl's grip and vice-verse; if a player has small hands then he or she should be equipped with the women's grip, otherwise one can purchase the men's grip.

Proper posture

When getting ready for a swing, each player should have a good posture. This means, stomach in and chest out. When standing on the course, it is not advisable to slouch or show poor posture. A great posture can prevent back problems, and will also help you to achieve the perfect swing.

Good stance

A good stance while playing golf allows the player to have poise and balance throughout the game. Stance must not be confused with posture, although they may have the same effects, stance can be more confusing and longer to master. Here are some ways to achieve a good stance:
  • The width of your shoulders will decide how far apart your feet should be, they should be of the same length as your shoulders.
  • The upper torso should lean slightly away from the lower torso; this can help improve your swinging skills as it lets your hand hang comfortably in front of your body.

Posture

Aside from good stance, a good posture is also needed to create the perfect swing. Your back should be straight with your chest out and your stomach in. Poor posture could lead to disappointing swings.

Shake it off.

Before executing their golf swing, each golf player does what they call the waggle. Each person has his or her own version of a waggle. So what exactly is it? The waggle is done to relax the player and prepare him or her for that big swing. When doing a waggle your shoulders and upper body should not move. From the moment you grip your golf club, these body parts should not move. Usually a golfer moves his hips slowly in order to shake off and get ready for the swing.

Here are the tips to help you get the perfect golf swing:

  • Just like with every other sport you need to know your strengths. Do you have a good angle on your shot or can you hit the ball 350 yards? If you know your strengths you can focus on perfecting them and also working on your weaknesses.
  • Do not attempt to be like John Daly, make sure you practice! You can not get the perfect golf swing without practicing a lot. Try if at all possible to practice in all types of weather. Practicing in different weather will help you to master your golf swing and it will also help you to be able to play the same in whatever weather.
  • Work on your back swing. You need to use your arms to create the force for the back swing. Many beginners use there hands to create the force and this will cause many problems. You need to have clean movement on your back swing.
  • When working on your down swing I would advice you to pull your left arm when it is coming from the top. Unlike your back swing which needs a nice clean movement, your down swing needs precision and speed.
  • Try to get coaching whenever possible. One on one coaching with a professional is a very good way for you to get your perfect golf swing down. You could also use a golf aid like the Tac Tic. The Tac Ti Golf Trainer informs you if you have a wrong grip or if your swing is wrong.
  • A successful sweep is hard to do. You need to transfer left and you know you made a good finish on your swing when your right foot is up and your right knee is facing the target. Your hands should be high over your left ear and the spikes of your shoe should be seen. If all of this is happening then you have accomplished a successful sweep.
